CAB Announces 2008 Gold Ribbon Award Winners for News, Documentaries, Information, and Diversity Programming
November 3, 2008Ottawa, November 3, 2008 – The Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) today paid tribute to its members’ outstanding productions in four categories, including News, Documentaries, Information and Diversity in News and Information Programming. This group of winners was recognized during the Gold Ribbon Awards Luncheon during the 82nd annual CAB Convention, being held November 2-4 at the Westin Hotel, Ottawa.
The Gold Ribbon Awards went to the following stations, grouped by medium:
Radio
Aboriginal Programming: CJNB/CJNS, Northwestern Radio Partnership/Rawlco Radio, North Battleford (Cree Ways – Living With Diabetes)
Breaking News: CKNW, AM 980 News, Corus Entertainment Inc., Vancouver (The Pickton Verdict)

The Gold Ribbon Awards
The Gold Ribbon Awards pay tribute to achievements in broadcasting in various categories including community service, breaking news, humour, entertainment programming, and promotion of Canadian talent. A total of 403 submissions were received for the 2008 Gold Ribbon Awards.
These awards are among the most prestigious in the Canadian broadcasting industry, and recognize outstanding productions in radio, television, specialty and pay and pay-per-view services, and community service.
The Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) is the national voice of Canada’s private broadcasters, representing the vast majority of Canadian programming services, including private radio and television stations, networks, specialty, pay and pay-per-view services. The goal of the CAB is to represent and advance the interests of Canada’s private broadcasters in the social, cultural and economic fabric of the country.
